PLEASE HAVE A LISTEN TO THIS TIMELY SONG. The song needs to fly. It can be found by clicking on ‘Poetry – lyrics’ on this website then scrolling to the bottom of that page and clicking on ’Listen to the song here’. It was created during work on the Canada Council Grant ‘Have We Forgotten? The Hope Project’ through ‘Hermione Presents’ that marked the 90th anniversary of the battle of Vimy Ridge April 1917 – 2007.
The lyrics come from a longer poem written in the anguish I felt in March 2003 at the beginning of the Iraq war. The music was composed by Charlene Nafziger. It is sung by students who participated with the artists on this grant project. This audio clip is rough but heartfelt.
See more about the grant project under ‘Visual Art – Multimedia’ and by visiting www.hermione-presents.com

Gallery ’76′ is now finished. Worked with friends to decorate their rental property with my artwork. It is a show place to display my art with showings in the future. A special home with great walls and light. The images on canvas are a great new direction.
Increasing urban sprawl is threatening the unique character of Stratford and the future viability of the downtown core. The City of Stratford has developed a sound plan to protect the downtown core by directing large future commercial developments to the West end of the city and away from the East end which is already heavily commercialized. Walmart is not respecting Stratford’s Official Plan. The City has been forced to defend the Official Plan at the OMB. The hearings start January 21, 2009. I am a citizen participant defending Stratford’s right to determine future growth and development.
Arlene Best, of ArWorks, designer and decorator chose these four poppy prints to be enlarged and hung on the walls of the front foyer of Cedarcroft Retirement Residence. They are from the body of my work that explores and celebrates this magnificent flower.
This is one of the pieces from my work in Gallery 96′s ‘Manipulate This’ show in which my work marked the 90th anniversary of the end of WW1. It is from a series called ‘Violent Addictions’ that use poppies as a background and concept for the created image.
I have been exploring years and boxes of polaroids through the use of a new scanner. Much future work will evolve from this past work.
‘One, A Rose’ the show and workshop on the importance of human diversity toured this fall (2008) in schools of the Avon Maitland District School Board. Funded by the Foundation for the Enrichment of Education and Prologue to the Performing Arts, the program reached hundreds of students. Shannon Thunderbird, singer played Mother Earth and Lesley, dancer played the Tree of Life and the four elements.
As part of Gallery 96′s show ‘Manipulate This’ I created this wall of work to mark the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War; ‘Catch The Torch’. Included is a piece honoring my grandfather, James White McLellan, a soldier in the great war; August, 1914 to May, 1919; C Company, 6th Battalion, The King’s Own Border Regiment. He wrote: “Only that life is rich, that is kind.” He served at Suvla Bay, Gallipoli, the Battle of the Somme, Vimy Ridge and Passchendaele. In 1939 when World War Two was declared, he threw all his medals in the sea. It was supposed to be “the war to end all war”.
